Set a virtual occlusion

The virtual occlusion is simulated by placing springs between both jaws that pull the upper jaw towards the lower jaw.

Note

The simulation with springs cannot be performed when an osteotomy was simulated beforehand.

To set a virtual occlusion:

Click Virtual Occlusion virtual occlusion icon on the Surgery tab.

If no occlusion is available, a new virtual occlusion will be created. When a loaded occlusion is present, you have to select the starting point for the virtual occlusion:

To create a new virtual occlusion based on a physical cast's scan, click Surgery models.

To create a virtual occlusion based on a loaded occlusion, click Loaded occlusion.

Notes

The originally added cast's occlusal position always remains available. To select it, see the occlusion topic.

Only one virtual occlusion is stored. If you recreate a virtual occlusion, then the previously created virtual occlusion is overwritten.

To set a virtual occlusion without loading a scanned occlusion to the patient record, you can choose whether you want to be guided through placing correct springs on the models, or to set all springs manually.

To follow the guided approach, click Start and follow the instructions below.

To follow the manual approach, click Manually set the virtual occlusion and adjust the virtual occlusion model.

In the Virtual occlusion wizard, indicate the landmarks according to the indications given in the wizard. Click Next.

The jaws are set in occlusion during the simulation.

Verify the virtual occlusion and adjust the occlusion model if needed.
