Load occlusion

Load information about the desired post-op occlusion position in IPS CaseDesigner®. The casts are physically set in occlusion and scanned. In the wizard the scanned information is added to the model. To virtually set occlusions, see the digital occlusion workflow. When working with segmental osteotomies, keep in mind that the osteotomies need to be simulated before you can load an occlusion:

On the home Home tab, click Load occlusion load occlusion icon. The Occlusion model wizard is opened.

Initially, no DICOM files are loaded. Do one of the following, depending on the file format of the sets you wish to load:

Click import dicom icon Import DICOM, browse to the correct location, select the folder that contains the files you need, and click Select Folder.

Click import stl icon Import STL, browse to select the folder containing the correct STL files obtained by a surface scanner. Then click Open.

The dental scan files available at the selected location and / or the selected STL files are loaded. STL files are indicated with a Surface scan indication at the top of the tile. The patient name is shown on the tiles representing DICOM files. When hovering over STL file tiles, the file names are shown.

Click a tile to select it. Scroll through the DICOM files at the right-hand side of the wizard page to check whether the correct set is used. When using STL files, inspect the scans using the standard interaction modes.

Click Next.

The occlusion model is being created.

Trim the base areas of the occlusion scan.

Click Next.

In the perpendicular viewer scroll along the reslice curve to inspect the alignment of the entire dental arch. In the 3D viewer, the occlusion model is visualized in light gray. The dental cast has a different color. In the perpendicular viewer, the outlines represent the dental cast and the solid represents the reslices of the occlusion model DICOM set.

Tip

Click Visibility patient icon to show or hide the different available objects (for example, dental reslice, lower or upper dental scan, etc.).

To adjust the dental scan isovalue of an imported DICOM set, click options icon Set isovalue in the lower-right corner. Enter the value to be used or drag the slider and click Done.

Click Finish.
