Reslices

Based on the 3D data, reslices are automatically calculated and visualized by default in the 3D patient, 3D panoramic, Implant, Tooth, and TMJ workspaces.

In addition to the sagittal, coronal, and axial reslices, two specific reslices are available in most of these workspaces: the cross-sections and the panoramic reslice, and can be added via the Layout smart panel by clicking on the corresponding image;

On a reslice viewer, you can set the reslice thickness.

Index Lines

In each 2D viewer, the cross-sections with other reslice planes are indicated by colored index lines.

Notes

To hide the index lines on the reslice viewers, click the drop-down arrow on the viewer title bar and select Hide info.

To hide the reslice planes on the 3D viewer, hide the objects in the Visibility smart panel.

To display the crosshair (the intersection of the index lines), hover over one of the index lines.

The color of each reslice pane is also reflected in the color of the icon in the toolbar of the different viewers.

In the 3D patient workspace:   In the tooth workspace:
orange square Axial plane orange   pink square Parallel plane red
green square Sagittal plane green   yellow square Perpendicular plane yellow
blue square Coronal plane blue   blue square Horizontal plane blue
If you drag the reslice index line of one of the 2D viewers, the index of the corresponding reslice is adapted accordingly.

Adjust the Reslices

To move a reslice, scroll in the active reslice viewer, or click and drag the index line. Alternatively, move the gray slider to the right side.

To rotate a reslice, click and drag one of the thicker index line endings. Drag the mouse inside the viewer to rotate the image data around the center point of the viewer.

Note

The reslice position is saved. To revert to the default position, right-click in the reslice viewer and select Reset reslice axis. Alternatively, click the drop-down arrow on the viewer title bar, and then select Reset reslice axis.

Cross-Sections

The cross-sections viewers display (CB)CT image data in a cross-sectional plane. The cross-section index lines are also visible on the 3D viewer, panoramic and axial reslice.

To move the cross-sections, click and drag the index line on the panoramic reslice.

To rotate the cross-sections, drag the ends of the index lines on the panoramic reslice.

Note

The rotation anchor point is positioned 4 mm above or below the occlusion plane, depending on whether you are inspecting the upper or the lower jaw. This position allows for more focused rotation around the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ).

To adjust the cross-sectional reslice spacing, thickness, height or number of slices, click the drop-down arrow in the title bar of the cross-sections viewer, then select the corresponding option. These settings are saved per workspace.

Note

When twelve or more reslices are displayed, visualizations such as the IO scan, face scan, 3D models, and surgical templates are automatically hidden.

To generate cross-sectional reslices as a media, click the drop-down arrow in the title bar of the cross-sections viewer, then select Generate derived DICOM.

Note

The generated DICOM is generated with the set filters applied, and using the viewer settings (OPG curve, reslice thickness, height and spacing). It includes all cross-sectional reslices, not just the ones shown in the viewer. This media is shown as a tile in DTX Studio Home, and can be exported via the Export data action in DTX Studio Home or the Clinic module, or via Send patient media to PACS.
