To virtually perform or edit a chin osteotomy:
Click Chin on the Surgery tab.
To edit a planned chin osteotomy, go to step 4.
The chin surface model is shown in the frontal view. If a dental segmentation has been performed, the segmented teeth are visible in the 3D viewer. If the mandibular nerve has been annotated, it is also shown in the 3D viewer. Indicate the osteotomy line by adding points on the model as shown in the instruction panel on the left. This is the line where the clinician will osteotomize the model. Additional points are calculated so that the surface cuts through the bone everywhere. It is not necessary to rotate the model. Right-click to cancel. To reindicate the points, click Reindicate cutting line.
When the frontal line of the chin osteotomy is indicated, click Next. The osteotomy plane is created.
Use the Surface size slider to resize the plane. Rotate the model to check whether the osteotomy surface completely intersects the model. If required, adjust the surface by clicking and dragging the blue points. Click Next.
The model is cut. The chin is added to the visibility editor. The cut-off chin part is highlighted in color.
Check whether the virtual osteotomy was correctly performed. If not, click Back and correct. If the osteotomy was simulated correctly, click Finish.
The chin is added to the scene and to the surgery models group on the Patient Visibility smart panel. It gets a separate color. You can change the object properties by right-clicking on the fragment in the 3D scene.
