DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is a standard for communicating medical images. As a part of this standard, a DICOM file format is defined. For CT imaging, this file format holds the image bitmaps, typically of axial slices.
DICOM files in DTX Studio™ Implant are combined in a DICOM set, called a 'scan item' or 'patient scan'. These scans contain a full series of images used for the conversion of patient data into a virtual model.
