Scan protocol

General principle

The patient and the desired prosthetic outcome need to be digitized.

Two types of scan protocols can be followed when using DTX Studio™ Implant, depending on the medical indications:

For edentulous patient cases and for large partial edentulous patient cases (very few teeth remaining), the protocol with radiographic guide must be followed.

For small partial edentulous cases the protocol without radiographic guide can be followed.

To decide which protocol to use, the decision table in the 'NobelGuide concept manual' can be used. This document can be downloaded from the NobelBiocare website or you can request the latest printed version from a Nobel Biocare representative.

For both scan protocols, specific parameter settings are recommended in order to obtain optimal results.

Caution

When using the protocol with a radiographic guide, an additional scan of the calibration object needs to be made every six months or when there is a software or hardware update of the (CB)CT scanner. The result of this scan is to be used in the creation of a calibration set. The calibration set, in turn, is used in the planning module to create the 3D model of the radiographic guide as accurately as possible.
