Creating a patient file in the software is slightly different when you are working in a Practice setup or with a Single user license.
When working in a Practice setup in combination with TeamPorter, there are two ways to create a new patient file. You can either start straight from a scan item or create a new medical record using New in the toolbar. The new patient file will automatically be shared with the practice.
This procedure is only valid in a Practice setup in combination with the TeamPorter application. TeamPorter will collect the DICOM files retrieved from the scanner and convert them into 'scan items'.
To create a patient file from a scan item:
1. Double-click the scan item in the Scans list in the My Office module. If needed, you can reduce the amount of scan items in the list by filtering or searching for a name.
2. The New Patient dialog is shown.
3. Click Create a new Planning. The software takes you to the Create Patient wizard in the 3D Planning module. Only the scan items related to the patient scan you double-clicked will be shown. Select the appropriate scan and check the DICOM details or crop the DICOM range if needed.
4. The wizard takes you through the different steps needed for the creation of a patient model. Please refer to the Create Patient wizard explanation for more detailed information on how to handle the wizard.
Note
Only the patient details available in the DICOM files (e.g. patient name) are entered in this patient file. The user will have to add additional information him/herself via the Patient Information module.
This procedure is valid for a Single user setup, but also in a Practice setup when no TeamPorter application is installed.
To create a new patient file when working in a single user setup:
1. Click New in the toolbar.
2. The New Patient dialog is shown.
3. Do one of the following:
— Click Create a new Planning to start creating a new patient model. The software takes you to the Create Patient wizard in the 3D Planning module.
— Click Order a Model Scan to request a scan of a plaster cast from a laboratory. DTX Studio™ Implant takes you to the Order module and the Scan order wizard is opened.
— Click Enter Patient Information to manage patient details and clinical pictures in the Patient Information module.
