To create a surgical template according to a treatment plan:
1. Make sure the correct planning files are opened.
2. Click Create Template in the Finalize group on the Finalize tab.
Note
Surgical templates cannot be created when:
— "Planning only" implants are used in the treatment plan.
— products which are no longer available (outdated or not available products) are used.
— products which are not installed on the computer are used.
— specific warnings are generated when product positions hamper a good fit of the surgical template during surgery.
3. Check the surgery setup.
— By default, the surgical template will be created with the same size as the indicated scan range. Should you wish to have a shorter span, drag over the tooth chart to indicate the size of the surgical template to be created. Alternatively, click the tooth positions to be deleted from or added to the range for the surgical template. Make sure to indicate a contiguous range.
— By default, the surgical template is produced by Nobel Biocare. If you wish to have the template created locally or by a different manufacturer, select Other. Select the manufacturer from the list. If you select your account name, you will be able to download the template yourself from DTX Studio™ Go. If you select one of your connections the template will be available for them to download. Add the patient's first and last name and/or his or her ID. If you choose to anonymize all patient information, only the patient ID will be shown in DTX Studio™ design.
— If needed, adjust the surgery types for the implant positions by selecting the appropriate surgery type from the drop-down list in the Planned products table.
Note
The color of a virtual surgical template for local production is different from that of a virtual surgical template to be produced by Nobel Biocare.

4. Click Next.
Note
The surgical template will not be created when production warnings are detected or when a surgical template for the specified surgery setup is not supported. If this is the case an error message will be shown. A red triangular warning icon is shown behind the warning.
5. The Calculating surgical template page is shown, indicating the progress. The surgical template creation process may be cancelled, but any changes made in the previous window will be discarded.
Caution The surgical template remains valid until the radiographic guide or the treatment plan is changed. If either one of these items is changed, the surgical template is automatically removed. |
6. Check the fit and the shape of the surgical template on the Check result page. You can toggle the visibility of the patient model, dental scan, implants and anchor pins. If you wish to adjust the shape, click Edit template.
7. Click Finish.
8. The Approve planning for order dialog pops up. Read it and click I have read and agree to all of the above to confirm that you have read the messages and that everything is as it should be.
9. Click Create order if you wish to order the template immediately. The system takes you to the order module directly, showing the planning file and allowing you to order products. If you wish to postpone your order, click Approve later. You will be able to order your products at a later stage.
