To virtually perform or edit a Le Fort I osteotomy:
Click Le Fort I on the Surgery tab.
To edit an existing Le Fort I osteotomy, go to step 4.
The cranium surface model is shown in the frontal view. If a dental segmentation has been performed, the segmented teeth are visible in the 3D viewer. Indicate the frontal part of the osteotomy line by adding points on the model as shown in the instruction panel on the left. This is the line where the clinician will osteotomize the model. It is not necessary to rotate the model. To reindicate the points, click Reindicate cutting line.
When done, click Next. The osteotomy plane is created.
Use the Surface size slider to resize the plane. Rotate the model to check whether the osteotomy surface completely intersects the cranium model. If necessary, adjust the surface by clicking and dragging the blue spheres.
Click Next.
The model is cut. The cranium and maxilla models are added to the visibility editor. The maxilla is colored in blue in the 3D viewer to allow for easier identification when checking whether the cut has been made correctly. Check whether the virtual osteotomy was correctly performed and whether the cranium and maxilla fragments are correctly identified. If not, click Back and resolve the issue. If the osteotomy was simulated correctly, click Finish.
The maxilla gets a separate color and is added to the Surgery models group on the Patient Visibility smart panel. The original cranium model is replaced by the cut cranium and maxilla model. You can change the object properties by right-clicking the fragment in the 3D scene.
