Rotate in a 3D scene

When working with 3D models, rotation can be used to look at the whole model. DTX Studio™ Implant provides the possibility to rotate freely or to use a slider to rotate the model around its vertical axis, no matter its position at the time.

What do you want to do?

Get in rotation mode 

Rotate freely 

Rotate with slider 

Get in rotation mode

To get in rotation mode:

     Choose Rotation  in the Interaction Mode toolbar.

     Select Rotation  from the Viewer pop-up menu.

     Press [Alt] on the keyboard or press the middle mouse button (when in pan or zoom mode).

Tip

To change between the interaction mode and the rotation mode, press the middle mouse button when you are in interaction mode. You will see the cursor change into . Keep the middle mouse button pressed down and drag the mouse to rotate the model. When you release the middle mouse button, you will return to interaction mode.

Rotate freely

Rotating freely means that no specific presets are used to view the model. Dragging the mouse will cause the camera to rotate around the model according to the direction of the mouse movements.

1.       Activate the Rotation mode .

2.     Do one or more of the following:

     Press and hold the left mouse button while moving the cursor to move the camera around.

     Alternatively, use the arrow keys on your keyboard: or to rotate around the Y-axis, or to rotate around the X-axis:

Rotate with slider

When using the slider to rotate the model, the camera rotates along the vertical axis.

To use the Rotation slider to rotate around the model:

1.       Set focus on the 3D Viewer by clicking it.

2.     Do one of the following:

     Click and drag the slider button to rotate the model.

     Click the slider arrows to rotate the model based on a fixed increment per click. The rotation is performed in the direction of the clicked arrow.

     Click and hold the slider arrows to keep on rotating the model. The rotation is performed in the direction of the clicked arrow.
