Scanner calibration

Note

This scanner calibration procedure is only needed for the creation of a radiographic guide, not when you are using a dental scan.

To correctly and accurately transfer the treatment plan from the computer to the patient for surgery, it is important to generate a surgical template which is precise and well-fitted on surrounding soft and hard tissue. To ensure this precision of fitting, the 3D shape of the radiographic guide has to be correctly extracted from the corresponding (CB)CT image data. Therefore, the selection of an appropriate isovalue applied to the radiographic guide is crucial. The calibration procedure allows you to automatically determine an appropriate isovalue.

The Isovalue editor in the Radiographic Guide wizard provides information about the used calibration set, the type of scanner that is used, and the calibration isovalue.
