Combine Intraoral Scans

When you import a new intraoral scan to a diagnosis that already contains a CT scan and a SmartFused intraoral scan, you can combine the new and the old intraoral scan in the IO models workspace:

Click Combine on the Help tip that pops up directly after importing the new intraoral scan. Alternatively, on the 3D tools toolbar, click Set up IO scan, and select Combine IO scans.

Select the source intraoral scan from which you want to load objects and alignment, and click Next.

Select the items to copy over:

Items from the source IO scan (Upper jaw, Lower jaw, Bite scans, ...). If both jaws are present in the target intraoral scan, jaw scans from the source are copied as diagnostics.

Reference planes

Alignment with 3D X-ray. This option is selected by default.

Click Finish.

The selected items and the occlusion from the source intraoral scan are copied to the target intraoral scan.

Notes

If the target scan already contains an occlusion, the existing occlusion on the target scan will remain active.

Subitems of an intraoral scan (like diagnostic, bite and locator scans) can be deleted if the data has not yet been synchronized on DTX Studio™ Core, by selecting Delete in the More options … options menu on the Visibility smart panel.

A message at the bottom of the image will inform you that the alignment of this intraoral scan has been copied from the previous intraoral scan. This will not block the creation of a surgical guide.
