To add a reference plane to the upper or lower jaw on an intraoral scan:
Choose one of the options:
| Upper jaw | Add a horizontal plane to the upper jaw. | |
| Lower jaw | Add a horizontal plane to the lower jaw. | |
| Vertical | Add a vertical plane to the jaw(s). |
The plane is added to viewers that display the linked jaw, except in the Upper and Lower viewer in the IO models workspace.
Alternatively, right-click a jaw in the workspace, choose Add reference plane, and then select the plane you want to add.
To adjust the position of a plane, use the Adjust smart panel, or select Edit position in the right-click menu.
To hide or rename a plane, use the Visibility smart panel, where the planes can be found in the Reference planes group.
Notes
Planes have a fixed size of 18x18 mm and their center point is by default positioned in the center of the jaw's bounding box.
By default, upper jaw planes have a green color and lower jaw planes yellow, both with 50% opacity. This is adjustable via the right-click menu, or the More options … options menu on the Visibility smart panel.
Planes are exported together with their parent object, that is the intraoral scan from the upper or lower jaw or together with the implant plan.
