Expert Settings

These settings allow you to adjust the settings for the creation of surgery models. The look of the condylar processes can be influenced, as well as the smoothing of the model and the dimensions of streaks in the model. Normally these settings should not be adjusted.

Condyle Properties

Fossa-condyle separation: depending on the setting (Automatic, Normal or Hard), more tissue or less is regarded as intermediate tissue between the fossa and the condylar process. This intermediate tissue will be taken into account for the separation of fossa and condylar process. If Hard is selected, the application will be able to separate both jaws more easily, but the model at condyle level will be of a lower quality. In case of automatic separation, the software will automatically switch to the Hard mode, should Normal separation be impossible.

Fossa-condyle distance: the distance (in mm) between the fossa and the condylar process can be set here. Click on the plus or minus signs to define the appropriate distance. Alternatively, enter the number directly into the spin box.

Condyle size: Should the condylar process not fit in the condyle box, you can adjust the size of the box with this setting. Choose between Normal, Large and Extra Large.

Model Properties

Model smoothing: the model will look smoother or less smooth depending on the setting you select.

Streak Correction

Should streaks be visible on the check alignment page, you can play with these settings to decrease the amount and size of streaks in the view.

Upper jaw streak length / Lower jaw streak length: by increasing the streak length for either upper or lower jaw, the part of the patient model that will be replaced by a dental scan will be wider. This will camouflage up to a certain extent the amount of streaks in the model.

Upper jaw streak height / Lower jaw streak height: by increasing the streak height for either upper or lower jaw, the part of the patient model that will be replaced by a dental scan surgery model will be higher or lower. Increase the number when the streaks are positioned rather high up the model. Should the patient not have bitten deep into the plaster when creating the cast, you might reduce the value in order to reduce the size of the block.
