Valid DICOM sets are generated according to the recommended scan protocol and can be converted into a model. General characteristics are:
Minimum two slices
The slices have an image orientation and image position.
Supported modalities are CT, CR, PX, DX and IO.
The images are 2-byte images.
The image orientation is [1 0 0] [0 1 0] [0 0 1].
The maximum deviation from the 'standard' slice increment is smaller than 0.001 mm.
The slice thickness is smaller than 1.3 mm.
The slice increment is smaller than 0.5 mm.
If on the DICOM tile an orange warning icon is shown, there is an issue with the specific DICOM set. This can be for example a different patient name in the various DICOM sets that are used. An explanatory warning message is displayed in the viewer.

It is possible, however, to use a DICOM scan with an orange warning.

Caution If you decide to continue with a DICOM set with a warning, it is at your own clinical risk. |
It will not be possible to load an invalid DICOM set when creating a model. Should you try to load invalid DICOM sets, a warning message is shown. Invalid DICOM sets are sets in which:
The data has an unsupported DICOM modality. Only data with the CT, CR, PX, DX or IO modality is supported.
The data is an unsupported 8 bit dataset.Only 12 or 16 bit data is supported.
The data was captured with a gantry/detector tilt and should be rescanned without gantry/detector tilt.
The data has no image orientation or position tag (files are invalid: something is wrong with the export software).
The data has an unsupported image orientation or position tag, the image orientation needs to be [100][010][001] +- 15°.
The data has non-orthonormal slices (projection of the slices is non-orthonormal e.g echo)
The data has no slice increment (slices are present without increment).
The data slice increment is too large, IF the per-set slice increment ( > + - 1 mm).
The data has an invalid slice thickness, (the voxel size is too large >= 2mm), IF the per-set slice thickness ( > 2.0 mm).
The data has an inconsistent slice increment (Slice increment is not consistent throughout the dataset), IF the per-slice increment delta (> 0.00350000011 mm).
