Based on the patient's clinical diagnostics, a tooth setup is created together with the dental technician. Ideally, the tooth setup is tried and evaluated clinically (function, speech and esthetics). The validated tooth setup is transformed into a radiographic guide by the dental technician. The clinician verifies this radiographic guide and creates a radiographic index to ensure correct positioning of the radiographic guide during CT scan. For details on how to fabricate the radiographic guide and how to position the 6-8 small radio-opaque markers for the double scan protocol, please consult the 'Guided Surgery Procedures Manual'*. After scanning the radiographic guide, a model is created. Since the exact shape and dimension of this object is crucial for the production of an accurate surgical template, the use of the calibration procedure is strongly advised.
