Measure the Hounsfield Units of a Point

For multi-slice CT images, this action measures the average Hounsfield unit value of a sphere with a defined diameter around the indicated point. The Hounsfield unit value is a good indication for bone density.

Important
For cone beam CT images, it will measure the average gray value of a sphere with a defined diameter around the indicated point.

Do one of the following:

Choose HU Value in the Measure group on the Diagnose tab. The cursor changes into a crosshair.

Click the arrow underneath HU Value and select one of the predefined dimensions.

Click the position to measure. A pop-up window shows the average HU value of the sphere, with a diameter as defined in the settings, around the indicated point. The measurement result is also shown in the 3D viewer.
