To export an implant plan in order to share it with a lab:
Go to the export data action.
In DTX Studio Home, click Collaborate and select
Restoration.
In DTX Studio Home, click Collaborate and select
Select data.
In DTX Studio Home, click More and select
Export data.
In the Clinic module, open the patient menu, click
Export and select
Data.
Select an intraoral scan.
Note
A green implant icon in the top-right corner of an intraoral scan tile indicates that the intraoral scan is linked to an implant plan.
Click Browse and go to the desired export location. Click Select folder. Alternatively, enter the file path in the Export directory field.
Choose the preferred options:
IO scan file format: PLY or STL.
IO scan export mode: the altered scan (with virtual extraction of teeth), the original scan or both.
Select Include diagnostics, locators, virtual teeth and planes to export these objects together with the intraoral scan.
Select Include implant plan for dental lab and select the relevant implant plan.
Anonymize patient: do not include patient name, date of birth and patient ID.
Click Export.
The data is exported to a sub-folder of the export directory. Click Show in file browser to go directly to the export location. There you will find the following files:
a .dentalProject file (exocad native file)
an .implantPosition file per implant (exocad native file): This file contains the position and orientation of the abutment platform, or — if no abutment has been placed — the position and orientation of the implant.
an STL or PLY file for every object of the selected intraoral scan (like virtual teeth, virtual roots, jaws, ...)
an STL or PLY file for every recognized abutment that is included in the implant plan
Notes
— The FDI tooth numbering system is used as this is customary for exocad.
— Reference planes are exported in the same coordinate system as the intraoral scan. When exporting an NXA, the reference planes are exported as a separate STL file.
— Face scans are not included in this export action.
