Generate 3D Models

Before proceeding, ensure the intraoral scan has been aligned with the 3D X-ray.

Note

If the 3D X-ray has not been correctly set up, if there is no intraoral scan added to the diagnosis, or if the intraoral scan has not been aligned with the 3D X-ray, a message will appear prompting you to take the necessary actions.

The following models are generated and added to the 3D workspaces:

Segmented teeth: Root information is derived from the CT data, while crown information is obtained from the intraoral scan.

Mandible and maxilla: These models have the roots of the teeth subtracted.

Notes

If there is an error in separating the maxilla from the mandible, a single skull model is created instead of distinct upper and lower jaw models.

In case of segmentation errors for a tooth, an error message will appear, but the jaws and the other teeth will still be segmented.

If an intraoral scan is available for only one jaw, only that jaw and its corresponding teeth are segmented.

The opacity and color of jaw or skull models can be adjusted via the right-click menu or the More options on the Visibility smart panel. For segmented teeth, adjustments can only be done via the right-click menu.

To export the 3D models to a dental lab, select the Include segmented 3D models checkbox in the export window. This checkbox becomes available when an intraoral scan is selected.

The models are linked with the 3D X-ray, so switching or removing the 3D X-ray also removes the 3D models from the diagnosis.

Feature availability may vary based on your license type and active module subscriptions.
