Export Data

To export images, files or 3D X-rays of a patient record:

Go to the export data action.

Note

Patient information and data can also be shared with a lab via DTX Studio Go: see Share Patient Data (GoShare).

Select the images to export. This can be done by clicking the images. Tiles with a colored border will be exported. Click the following options:

Select all to select all the data in the list.
Deselect all to deselect all the data.
filter icon choose one of the options to filter the images on acquisition date or image type.
grid view icon to view the data in grid view.
menu icon to view the data in list view.

Set the Export directory.

Click Browse, go to the desired export location, and click Select folder. Alternatively, enter the file path in the Export directory field.

Anonymize patient: Select this option to not include patient name, date of birth and patient ID. This option is selected by default. If you change it, the new setting is saved for future use.

Set the data options in the collapsible sections.

2D IMAGE: Choose the File format, Export mode, and choose to include the metadata or not.

3D X-RAY: Choose the 3D DICOM format and the Slice orientation(s).

Note

Exporting 3D X-ray slices in orientations other than the default axial view is helpful for viewers with limited functionality that cannot display volumetric data. Advanced viewers typically only require the default axial orientation.

IO SCAN: Choose the intraoral scan File format: PLY (colored surface model), STL (surface model) or NXA (DTX file format). The altered and original scan, the bone models, diagnostics, locators, virtual teeth and planes will be exported, if available.

FACE SCAN: Choose the File format: OBJ (textured surface model) or PLY (colored surface model). If the face scan is aligned with the selected intraoral scan, the face scan will be exported in the intraoral scan coordinate system.

IMPLANT PLAN: Export for:

Dental lab (to export exocad files): The data will be exported to a sub-folder of the export directory.

There you will find the following files:
— a .dentalProject file (exocad native file)
— an .implantPosition file per implant (exocad native file): This file contains the position and orientation of the abutment platform, or — if no abutment has been placed — the position and orientation of the implant.
— an .stl or .ply file for every object of the selected intraoral scan (like virtual teeth, virtual roots, jaws, ...)
— an .stl or .ply file for every recognized abutment that is included in the implant plan
— an .stl or .ply for every segmented tooth and segmented bone model
— a .ply or an .obj with .mtl (material) and .png (texture) files for the face scan

Notes

The FDI tooth numbering system is used as this is customary for exocad.

Reference planes are exported in the same coordinate system as the intraoral scan. When exporting an NXA, the reference planes are exported as a separate STL file.

To export an implant plan to exocad, the plan must include an intraoral scan that is aligned with the (CB)CT scan using SmartFusion.

Click Export.

The data is exported. Click Show in file browser to go directly to the export location.

Notes

Face scans are exported to sub-folders within the export directory. Such a sub-folder will contain either an .obj file along with a material (.mtl) and texture (.png) file, or a single .ply file.

3D models are exported to a sub-folder of the intraoral scan.
